We just switched to Mercury Payment Systems, and the credit has been working fine ever since we switched over (about 2 weeks), we just got our newly encrypted pinpads with the Mercury system encoded on them, now when we do a debit sale, and we put in the pin, we get an error of this: 'A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error locating server/Instance Specified)' Now that I am typing this out, I am maybe starting to realize that whatever happens after we enter the pin number, is RMS trying to use 'localhost' to write into the database? I know right now that it is not going to work, because we have different SQL instances, and localhost will not work, and we have to usually type in the full IP address if we want to access something on that server. like 192.168.1.7\sqlexpress... we just can't use localhost\sqlexpress Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Nevermind about the localhost being an issue, I can clearly log into the SQL server using localhost.... So yes, we are still having a problem... This is only on debit though, and credit is running fine posting transactions... It's just the debit that is having an issue... Thanks!

really? Mercury? What kind of rate do they give you?
I have lots of clients on a variety of banks and never have a problem.
Just curious.
RMS uses the cpnnection established in you store admin, nothing else. check you sql config surface area config (for features) and make sure your open rowset thingie is checked. Maybe that will help.

Well, I just talked to Microsoft today, and it looks like the HTML Status window was the culprit. I disabled the Retail Hero status .HTM file, and now the debit is working great!

I am going to contact them today to see if they have a solution for it.
